Borrowing responsibly
The right loan
starts with the right questions.
Sometimes the best next step is to wait, compare another option or ask for help.
Leave room for essentials.
Repayments need to fit alongside housing, food, utilities, transportation and existing debt. Include a buffer for irregular expenses. Borrow only what you need and can reasonably repay.
Compare alternatives.
Consider whether the expense can wait, a provider offers a payment arrangement, or you have a lower-cost option. Compare full costs, conditions and consequences.
Know what you’re agreeing to.
- The exact amount and any deductions.
- APR, interest calculation and charges.
- Payment amount, frequency, dates and total repayment.
- Consequences of a missed payment.
- Conditions for extra or early payments.
Speak up early.
Contact GetFlexi promptly if you may miss a payment. A conversation does not automatically change the agreement, but helps you understand options.
If debt is difficult to manage, consider independent help. Read the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada’s debt-help information.
